What is H.264 and is it supported by MEDIAEDGE?
H.264 is a standard for video compression, and is equivalent to MPEG-4 Part 10, or MPEG-4 AVC. H.264 has roughly 1/3 to 1/2 the data rate of MPEG2. It is very open and flexible and popular with computer developers. MPEG2 is much more rigid, really about video and broadcast, so not liked as well by computer developers.
MEDIAEDGE Version 4 supports H.264
| Why do I need a demo system?
While IMN works closely with the manufacturer to provide support materials for our product line, it is often difficult to tell the story and close the deal with sales material alone. It is best to have a fully functional example that can be tailored to a particular client's needs or application to really convey the message. Additionally, having an in-house demonstration unit allows you as a dealer to field test client applications (uses) before making a purchase selection.
| How is Synchronization accomplished between multiple HDMA4000 players?
The HDMA4000sync uses black burst as a reference or timing mechanism which allows a monster unit to start all slave units together.
| What type of slots do the MVRD-4000 computer encoding cards work with?
The MVRD-4000 cards are compatible with 5 volt or 3 volt bus and will work in either standard full-length PCI bus slot (Ver. 2.1 or higher), or PCI-X (Peripheral Component Interconnect Extended) bus slots.
The WILL NOT WORK with PCI Express slots.
| How many MVR-D4000 encoding cards will the system support simultaneous encoding from?
From 1 to a maximum of 5 has been tested and we have systems in the field with 5 cards encoding simultaneously in a single server.
| What Operating Systems will MEDIAEDGE run on?
Microsoft Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 or later or Microsoft Server 2008
It can also run on Microsoft Server 2000 but the MVR-D4000 cards may not operate correctly if required.
| What is HDCP and does MEDIAEDGE support it?
HDCP stands for High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection but is more commonly referred to as High Definition Content Protection.
It is a form of digital copy protection developed and licensed by Intel Corporation to prevent copying of digital audio and video content as it travels across DisplayPort, Digital Visual Interface (DVI), High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), Gigabit Video Interface (GVIF), or Unified Display Interface (UDI) connections.
HDCP is optional for DVI connectors.
If the HDCP chain is broken by any device, the player must step down to SD output.
MEDIAEDGE supports HDCP in version 4
| Can I order individual SWT MEDIAEDGE Software Client Licenses?
The minimum order is for 10 licenses ordered on a single order. But if you require more than ten, and they are ordered at the same time, you can order any increment above 10. For instance you could order 12 or 18 or 25 but not 9. To add licenses later you must order at least 10.
Example: School desires 35 concurrent users with initial order so you order 35. Later the school wants to add 5 more to have a total of 40. They would be required to order 10 more (minimum of 10 licenses for any one order) which would give them a total of 45 concurrent licenses.
